With a passion for human rights, the artist's connection to the world is unmistakable. The view that everyone deserves political, economic, and social rights is not as much a journey of self-discovery, but a quest for change. The motivation of doing art is more in the communication - to reach out to the community at large.
"...I decided to explore the issue of gun control. I found it extremely challenging to convey my views whilst attempting not to sacrifice the art for the message. I realized that the precise meaning that I was contemplating when I created the piece is not as important as the reaction and interpretation that is provoked in each individual viewer. Having listened to members of the class interpret the work, I decided that it was far more interesting to leave some of the questions unanswered rather than creating a very obvious and literal interpretation of my own message.
I found using different materials such as the rough and stained wood really enhanced the pieces by giving them a gritty texture that matched the subject matter."
